US 460 Construction Projects Proceeding on Schedule.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is scheduled to let three more construction projects on US 460 in Pike County in 2007 and 2008. Right of way acquisition and utility relocation efforts have been ongoing for several years in order to continue the construction of much needed US 460 from US 23 in Yeager to the Breaks Interstate Park in Virginia. With continued Appalachian Development Highway System funds, this entire US 460 corridor should be completed within 8-10 years.
At the east end of the corridor, Section 7A, including an interchange with KY 80 will be the next section let. This section will run in the hillside north of Beaver Creek and will eventually cross Beaver Creek at Stonecoal Fork. Section 5, including an interchange with KY 195 near Marrowbone, will also be let in late summer or early fall of 2007. An interchange connecting the new US 460 to US 23 will also be let in late 2007. With these lettings, approximately 60% of the US 460 corridor will be under construction.
The remaining sections are in the right of way acquisition and utility relocation phases and construction lettings will be scheduled as funding is received.
